Time for Magic
Halloween comes early this year in The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The movie is based on the book by John Bellairs. It follows 10-year-old Lewis (OWEN VACCARO, center) who goes to live with his uncle Jonathan (Jack Black, right) in a creepy mansion that’s haunted by a mysterious ticking noise. Uncle Jonathan reveals that he is a warlock and teaches young Owen about magic. When Owen accidentally awakens the dead, he, Uncle Jonathan, and their friend Mrs. Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett, left) find themselves responsible for preventing the end of the world.
“Lewis is very shy. But he makes a mistake and has to fix it,” Owen told TIME for Kids. “He learns some lessons about family and friendship.”
Owen also told TFK that if he had magical powers in real life, he’d want to be able to fly. “I always thought it would be super fun. You could get places easier. Plane tickets are expensive,” he says.
