The Key to Creativity

Where does creativity come from? And what does it look like? These are the questions Colby Sharp, a fourth-grade teacher in Michigan, wanted to help his students answer. “I realized that ideas can come at any time and can take many shapes,” he told TFK. Eventually, his realization grew into a book, The Creativity Project. Sharp wants to help kids become skilled storytellers. The book features idea starters from 44 authors and illustrators of children’s books. It also includes a section where readers can experiment with their own story ideas. Sharp hopes readers return to the book for a spark of inspiration. “I hope that when they read it, they get out their notebook or video camera and go create something,” he says. “I hope it takes them forever to finish reading because they keep stopping to create their own stories.”
