ABC’s Dancing with the Stars: Juniors debuts on October 7. The show pairs 12 celebrity kids with professional junior ballroom dancers. Each duo has an adult mentor. These seasoned pros guide the young dancers through choreographed routines showcasing different dance genres. The kids then perform in front of judges and a live audience.

MILES BROWN (pictured), 13, is an actor on ABC’s Black-ish. He joined Dancing with the Stars: Juniors because he loves hip-hop dance. “I also like to learn new styles of dance,” Miles told TIME for Kids. RYLEE ARNOLD (also pictured), 13, is Miles’s partner. She helped him learn ballroom dance. “Meeting Miles was one of my favorite things about being on the show because I’m a big fan of his,” Rylee says. Her older sister Lindsay mentored the duo. The teens were thrilled to be part of the new series. “As the competition narrows each week, the show gets more exciting,” Miles says.
