On October 30, the Sagrada Familia became the world’s tallest church, when part of its new central tower was added. Located in Barcelona, Spain, the church is now 534 feet tall. The next-tallest church, in Germany, hits 530 feet.
The Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882. It’s still growing. When completed, in 2026, the tower is expected to reach 564 feet. A press release calls the new tower a “historic milestone.”
